BSA Gold Star Motorcycle 1938–1963

What is your favourite motorcycle of all time?

Classic BSA Gold Star Motorcycle 1938–1963

Few clubman racers have enjoyed the success or reputation of the “Goldie”. The range was produced in trial, scramble, touring and racing versions. The 500cc engine developed up to 40bhp at just over 7000rpm through a close ration gearbox. Top speed was around 110mph in full clubman trim. Most coveted of all the “Goldies” was the 499cc model DBD 34.

  1. DB34GS804 was a 58 goldstar I bought new in 57.
I traded the frame for a 11/2 TT carb, found a 47 ridged frame, Clarance Czysz re-drilled the intake to a greater angle, re-balanced the flywheels. My first race was at the old Gardena 1/4 mile D shaped track, then LA speedway 1/2 mile,
Where is DB43 GS 804 to day does it still exist. I sold it in 1961 used the money to get married
